Why we built it
The bill is the slowest part of the night.

The table's bill as a guest sees it, and the screen after they have paid their share.
What it does
- Guests scan the permanent QR code on the table. It opens in the phone's browser: nothing to download and no account to create.
- They see the live bill straight from the till, with its items and its prices, updating as more is rung up.
- Each guest taps the items that were theirs, adds a tip if they like, and pays their share. Card details never touch TapOut.
- Where it stands
- In final testing ahead of launch.
- Who it's built with
- TapOut is its own company, built by Appventure with a partner and taken to market together.
- Where it came from
- Murray Long and Georgie Baker brought us the idea. Murray came to the office to tell us about it, we loved it, and we started on the proof of concept the next day. It became the first project under our venture studio model.

The back office on a service night: the payout going to the bank, what was paid on phones, tips, and every table right now. A fictional venue and evening, shown in the app itself.
Feature by feature
What it does.
The card machine stops being the bottleneck
Nobody walks one machine around a table of eight or splits a bill by hand, so tables turn faster on the nights it matters.
Tips come from each guest, on their own share
Every guest tips on what they had, from their own phone. No awkward moment at the card machine, and nobody tipping on a bill that wasn't theirs.
The till stays in charge
TapOut reads the open bill from the restaurant's till and writes each payment back to it. Staff carry on exactly as they do now, with less admin.
The whole table can see when it's settled
The amount still owing ticks down on every guest's phone as each share is paid, until it reads zero. Nobody leaves guessing whether the bill is done.
The restaurant is paid directly
Takings go straight to the restaurant's bank account from the payment provider. TapOut never holds them.
A back office for the floor
Live tables, the day's takings, a queue for any payment that has not landed on the till yet, an end-of-night report, and printable QR cards for every table.
