Where it started

Our Story

Appventure began in 2024 with one vision: to empower finance teams with technology they can understand and own. Our founder, Roger Wyllie CA(SA), set out to make that vision real. After years of auditing companies both large and small, he saw two extremes: finance teams were drowning in subscriptions, chained to vendor roadmaps, waiting on support tickets just to tweak a report - or avoiding technology altogether because of the cost and complexity involved. Through his work at one of the Big 4 Auditing firms, he saw the power of the chartered accountant developer to build solutions that were truly appropriate and useful for finance teams.

He built Appventure to scale the idea of the Chartered Accountant Developer.

Today, Appventure sits at the intersection of deep-finance expertise and intrepid innovation. We pair the robustness of high-code development with the agility of the low-code platform your organisation already licenses, Microsoft or Google, creating sophisticated, end-to-end applications that finance teams can use, understand, and maintain themselves. Roger is a CA(SA) turned developer. Roger has spent half a decade building tech solutions for auditors and finance teams. During his previous role at PwC, Roger built over 50 digital solutions for clients both locally and abroad. He also created and led multiple digital upskilling initiatives for auditors. For his contributions to the finance landscape, SAICA recognised Roger as one of their Top-35-Under-35 candidates during 2023 and PwC recognised him for Professional Excellence and Career Achievement as part of their Under-35 awards.

Today he combines his deep financial insight with hands-on development, delivering platforms that are powerful, adaptable, and valuable for finance teams.

Josh is a CA(SA) turned developer. During his time at PwC he gained experience on private and listed entities across a range of industries, and it was there, building digital solutions on audit engagements and internal projects, that his passion for technology was ignited.

Austen is a CA(SA) turned developer. He spent a number of years in audit at PwC, where he met and worked with Roger, and then in crypto finance at Autonomous. His developer journey began recently, when automating processes in Excel needed to be taken to the next level.

Today he draws on experience that runs from large corporate groups to crypto start-ups, delivering tailored solutions for his clients and automating as many repetitive tasks as he can: the abilities of a developer, combined with the insights of an experienced chartered accountant.
